About the International Conference-ECDEMA–2025
1st International Conference on Environmental Challenges of the Dynamic Earth: A Multidisciplinary Approach (ECDEMA–2025)
This interdisciplinary Conference will explore the cultural, historical, scientific and theoretical contexts of human-nature nexus. Environment is one of the central discourses of present era. Man’s drifting away from an Eco-centric to an anthropocentric world, thereby distorting the green culture, has resulted in a global ecological crisis. Urbanization, industrial modernity, increasing population and expanding settlement have made huge toxic changes in the green environment. Environmental crisis is very much rooted in the logic of capital, in the hierarchical division between First World and Second World, in the political issues of the rights of aboriginal identities, in the migration and displacement of environmental refugees and in the political and scientific debates of climate policies. Cultural and historical representation of nature and landscape has also a huge role to play in this moment of crisis. Finally we cannot deny the scientific enquiry crucial for decoding the disequilibrium in biodiversity.
The interdisciplinary conference would initiate a multi-layered academic discussion involving experts in sciences and humanities. The Conference will provide a platform where wide spectrum of active and experienced researchers in domains ranging from material science to nuclear science - nano-science to particle physics- earth science to biological science, emerging environmental issues analogous to global warming/climate change. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Earth’s mean temperature is predicted to rise by between 1.5 – 4.5 °C for a doubling of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is expected by around 2050. To mention a few, in regard to climate research – CERN( best known for the Large Hadron Collider) - an international organization of Nuclear and Particle Physics, where a project named "CLOUD(Cosmics Leaving Outdoor Droplets)” was undertaken to explore new dynamics of climatology. This climate research is designed to help scientists to understand how clouds form and what role they play in regulating Earth’s temperature.
This conference would suggest ways in which a pro-environment culture of green initiatives, green alternatives, and green consciousness might be practiced. The conference would also address the complex problems of environmental sustainability and aid in structuring ethical issues crucial for saving the Green Culture. The conference would expect research papers from Humanities and Science disciplines which would challenge the problematic of dualistic paradigm of viewing man and nature as separate.
