A Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups Cell (SEDG) in colleges is a committee responsible for
- Identification:
Identifying students who belong to SEDG based on socio-economic criteria. - Support:
Providing various forms of support, including financial aid (scholarships, fee waivers), academic assistance (tutoring, remedial classes), and counseling. - Empowerment:
Offering skill development workshops, mentorship programs, and career guidance to help students succeed. - Policy Advocacy:
Advising the institution on policies to address socio-economic disparities and promote inclusive practices. - Grievance Redressal:
Addressing complaints of discrimination or inequitable treatment faced by SEDG members.
