College Common Room: A Space for Recreation, Wellness & Engagement exclusively for students
The College Common Room serves as a vibrant and multifunctional space dedicated to enhance students' co-curricular activities and promoting relaxation, wellness, and community bonding beyond the classroom.
Sister Nibedita Govt. General Degree College for Girls, being a girls’ College utilizes the Students’ Common Room in multifarious ways. Its purpose is to create an environment for healthy recreation and promote social interaction among the students.
Amenities and Location:
The Common Room is conveniently located above the College Canteen, making it easily accessible to students.
It features two attached washrooms for the benefit of the students, and its well-ventilated design gives students a pleasant environment ideal for both relaxation and group activities.

Indoor Game Facilities:
The Common Room is equipped with some popular indoor games such as Carom Board and Chess, providing students with a fun and competitive outlet during their free hours.
Outdoor Game Equipment Access:
The Common Room maintains a collection of outdoor sports equipment including badminton and volleyball sets. These are issued to students through a logbook system, ensuring fair and organized usage.
Secretary and Assistant secretary of Common room Sub-committee from Student council under the supervision of the Common Room Subcommittee, maintain the logbook.
Sports Logistics:
All necessary sports logistics and equipment—shotput balls, spoon and marbles, tug of war ropes, victory stands, etc.—are securely stored in the common room almirah, ensuring proper availability and utilization during Annual Sports Events of College.
Green Room for Cultural Programmes:
During major college events, particularly the Annual Cultural Programme,-‘AURA’ the Common Room is efficiently utilized as a green room and last minutes rehearsal place for performers, offering them a comfortable and private preparation space.
Wellness Activities:
In addition, our college believes that exercise is of vital importance for enhancing physical as well as mental performance. Therefore the space has also hosted several yoga sessions,under the programme “Yoga as Life Skill” contributing to the holistic development and mental well-being of students.
The College Common Room remains a dynamic student-centric area, evolving to meet the recreational and wellness needs of the student body while being managed with active participation from the student council and faculty coordinators.
